Not all browser extensions present the same level of risk. Security teams evaluate whether an extension supports a legitimate business need and what permissions it requests before deciding whether to allow it. An extension that enables essential work may be acceptable when paired with security controls. An extension with little business value but broad access—such as access to passwords or browsing data—creates a very different risk profile.
