Many organizations now operate dozens of security tools across incident response, threat intelligence, detection, investigation, and remediation. While these tools increasingly include AI features, they often lack proper integration across platforms. This creates operational fragmentation inside SOCs. Instead of a unified security workflow, analysts may be forced to correlate data across multiple disconnected systems, increasing complexity and reducing efficiency. Some organizations are attempting to build unified, environment-aware platforms, but success appears limited to a small subset of mature SOCs. The result is a growing gap between tool capability and operational usability, where more features do not necessarily translate into better outcomes. At what point does security tooling complexity start reducing overall security effectiveness?
